Friday is payday! And payday means… I have money to spend on yarn again! I’ve got two jumpers lined up to do, one more urgent than the other. I’ve promised to knit my brother a jumper, a slightly modified version of this (ravelry link). Which should really be done before it gets too cold, and for me, a (get off my) Cloud from needled which is a far more Spring-y project so I could leave it until I’ve finished my brother’s (if I can resist starting it, that is!).

I’ve also started knitting teeny little hats for Innocent’s Big Knit 2009, a little early perhaps, but they’re so handy to knit while in-between larger projects, and good practise for different stitches. For example yesterday, in preparation for my Cloud jumper, I made my very first I-cord and I can see myself making rather a lot of this in the future.

Am really yearning for a new camera at the moment. My little Canon Powershot has completely given out, and it doesn’t sound like it’ll be worth getting it repaired. I’d be better off buying a new one. Still, I’m comforted by the fact that it’s lasted a good few years, since its first trip out to the Royal Albert Hall in the first few days at university (it was a student loan-financed self-present), surviving a trip to the Purple Turtle, and many many days out, birthdays, weddings, Christmases, and lots of random madness!

It will be much missed. RIP Powershot

Woo-hoo! It's my birthday I can write if I want to...

So yeah, I thought today would be a good day to launch my site. A new year of my life, a new journal, and new resolutions for the coming year. I need to read more, to knit more and make more of my own clothes instead of buying them. I want to learn how to sew and how to play the violin, I want to walk more, and use the car less. I want to visit more of the UK, exploring the little places and getting lost in the big ones.

And so it starts here. And hopefully this blog will be a constant reminder of my current aspirations and will spur me on to bigger and better things.

Today Mr Autumn and I got up extra early to watch the sunrise, as my birthday is on summer solstice, the longest day of the year (I like to think that means I have the longest birthday in the year). We drove to the bottom of our local hill and climbed up watching the sky redden beautifully with our little flasks of tea... before the clouds descended and hid the sun just as it was due to appear! Sigh. Back to bed we went!
